Joe Bussard

Joe Bussard of Frederick, MD, is one of the most eccentric and entertaining people I’ve met. In the 50s and 60s, he and a small community of collectors canvassed the American South looking for 78 rpm recordings of jazz, blues and country recording artists from the 20s and 30s.

They were American pickers before anyone knew what that was, and their passion for collecting preserved an aspect of American culture that would otherwise have been lost.

If you like records, Joe still plays ‘em…on both sides.
